woodford wells sports club
padel courts

Freeman Ankerman Partnership was appointed to design and deliver three new padel courts at Woodford Wells Club, expanding the Club's sports facilities with one of the UK's fastest-growing racket sports.

The project involved the planning, technical design and construction of high-specification courts, together with associated infrastructure, lighting, drainage and spectator areas. Working closely with specialist contractors and the Club, we coordinated the delivery of the scheme from concept through to completion while ensuring the new facilities integrated sensitively within the existing sports grounds. Planning was approved in the first application.

The completed development provides a modern, competition-standard facility that has enhanced the Club's sporting offer and created a vibrant new destination for members and visitors alike.

sri murugan temple
new build

FAP Architects were proud to deliver the new London Sri Murugan Temple, working in close collaboration with specialist architects and craftsmen from India to ensure the design remained authentic to traditional South Indian temple architecture.

The project combined contemporary UK construction methods with centuries-old architectural principles, requiring careful coordination between the UK design team, overseas specialists, structural engineers and local planning authorities. Every element of the ornate temple façade and gopuram (entrance tower) was developed to respect the traditions, symbolism and craftsmanship intrinsic to Hindu temple design.

Beyond creating a striking new landmark for the local community, the project provides enhanced worship spaces and facilities capable of supporting the Temple's growing congregation and extensive programme of cultural and community events.

This project reflects our ability to deliver complex, culturally significant buildings, balancing specialist heritage craftsmanship with modern technical design, regulatory compliance and project coordination.

forest gate mosque
new build

FAP Architects secured planning permission for the demolition of a mid-terrace property and the creation of a new mosque and Islamic academy on Romford Road, Forest Gate.

Contemporary brickwork, perforated metal panels and carefully crafted detailing create a modern identity that sits comfortably within its historic context. To the rear, the design reinterprets the traditional East London terrace, with a distinctive stepped roofscape that echoes the rhythm and proportions of the surrounding streets while expressing the building's civic importance.

The scheme brings together flexible prayer spaces, teaching facilities, community areas and landscaped play areas, creating an inclusive environment that supports worship, education and community life. The project demonstrates how thoughtful contemporary architecture can respond sensitively to challenging urban sites, delivering a landmark building that respects its surroundings while providing a strong sense of place for future generations.

competition

FAP Architects entry for this Visitor Centre promoted the aesthetic value of the surroundings by means of a design approach that was sensitive to the identity of place and responsive to the environmental issues.

The disposition of spaces, their indoor connections and the connections with the immediate surroundings allow the structure to be fully functional both for the visiting public and staff.

The design approach was focused around sustainability and minimising environmental impact.

feasibility study

A hospital trust asked FAP Architects to complete a full feasibility study to create a vision for future use of an existing underdeveloped site.

The proposal provides much needed additional accommodation to allow transfer and consolidation of services as part of a master plan for the whole hospital site.

The feasilibility study focuses on adjacencies whilst providing efficient use of space and land, as well as invigorating part of an area undergoing massive redevelopment.
